Vinted Buyer Protection Fee (2026): How Much It Is and Who Pays It
Short answer: the Buyer Protection fee is usually 5% of the item price plus a fixed 0.70 in your local currency (£0.70 in the UK, $0.70 in the US). The buyer pays it at checkout, on every order. It is worked out on the item or bundle price, shipping is left out, and it never comes out of the seller's payout.
One change is coming. From 8 October 2026 Vinted's updated terms for the US, UK and Australia call this charge the "Vinted fee" instead of the Buyer Protection fee. The terms do not change how it is calculated, so the numbers below still apply after the rename.
What the fee costs on real prices

The fixed 0.70 is what makes cheap items feel expensive. On a £3 top the buyer pays more than a quarter again in fees before postage. On a £50 coat the fee barely registers.
Why bundles matter
Vinted's help centre says the fee depends on the order value and the order type, meaning a single item or a bundle. A bundle is one order, so the fixed part is charged once. Three £3 items bought one at a time cost the buyer £2.55 in fees. The same three items bought as one £9 bundle cost £1.15.
That is a real reason to switch on bundle discounts if you sell a lot of cheap pieces, because the buyer saves on fees before you give away anything.
What the buyer gets for it
Buyer Protection covers an order that does not arrive, arrives damaged, or is significantly not as described. The buyer has 2 days after the item is marked as delivered to report a problem. If they press "Everything is OK" or the 2 days pass, the order completes and the money goes to the seller.
Can you remove the fee?
No. Vinted says the fee is mandatory for every order made through Vinted and is added automatically at checkout. Paying outside Vinted breaks its rules and leaves you with no Buyer Protection, so if the parcel never turns up there is nothing to claim against.
Does the seller pay any of it?
No. If you list at £20 you receive £20. The fee sits on the buyer's side of the receipt, and there is no selling commission on a standard Vinted sale (the full picture is in Vinted fees explained).

Vinted Pro, the account type for registered businesses, is free to join and free to list on. The big difference is returns: Pro sellers must let buyers return an item within 14 days of receiving it. The Buyer Protection fee still applies, because Vinted charges it on every order.
What this means when you price
Buyers compare what they pay in total. A £20 listing shows up as £21.70 before postage. If a competing listing is £19, the buyer sees £20.65. When you price against other sellers, compare totals, and remember that the fee takes a bigger bite out of cheap items, so bundling low priced stock is usually worth more than shaving 50p off each piece.
